    hello i planted some potatoes they were from some potatoes i had bought which had turned a bit bad and just for fun me and the kids planted one each i now have 3 bushes with potatoes pushing through the soil is it time to harvest

    Robert,

    I see this is your first post so welcome to the vine. By turned a bit bad I hope you meant thrown out a few shoots as it is not advisable to grow anything which isn't in good condition. You don't say when you planted your spuds but bear in mind that earlies will take 10 -12 weeks to develop to maturity and second earlies a while longer and late varieties can be considerably longer than that. Many spuds will develop flowers shortly before the crop is ready but that is only an indication and not a guarantee. Best way to check is to have a scrape about in the soil to see what is in there. (They call that a furtle in some parts, I love the expression). Hope you find that useful.

      One more point to add to the above cover the bare tubers or they will go green, green tubers are poisonous.
