This is based on host potatoes
    Ex no 1
The other week whilst ground clearing,i came across some salad blue host's,i dug them out and replanted straight away in another bed, only a lot deeper then covered them up with mypex, just like they were over winter last year,

    Ex no 2
got some seed potatoes {caesar} chitted but did not get planted out, today i put 9 a good foot under the ground with some manure pellets and covered up,
My idea is,being so deep and mypexed,it should keep the ground not only drier but warmer,i aim to see weather it is worthwhile planting some earlier on when the ground is still reasonably warm and soft before the frosts come, there is still the opportunity to hoe up if needed for what ever reason come the spring,if it works out,it will save time come the spring,
Come to think of it,am sure i have seen farmers plant spudz and cover with a white poly in the past mmm,i only used this variety because it was there at no cost,
the pic below is them before sinking

They are certainly ready for planting out Lottie, like you say, you will have to keep an eye on the weather forecasts for any frost then simple earth them up if they are through or cover with straw. If they do get frosted, they will come back but may get knocked back a few weeks.

You have nothing to loose, good luck
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them
