  • potato blight on marie pipers

I have just tested a leaf on my marie pipers and they have blight. Do I just dig them up now and throw them all away?

    Not necessarily!

Is it just splodges on the leaves? If so, and it hasn't spread to the stems, then get busy iwth the secateurs and chop off all the foliage just leaving a couple of inches of stem sticking out the ground. Green bag/burn all the foliage, and your spuds will be safely tucked underground. When risk of blight is over (or a couple of weeks recommended), then you can did up your spuds.

      leaves or further?

How can you tell if it has gone further than the leaves?

Look at the stems - if they are unmarked by brown splotches they should be fine. Think there is a pic on the 'blight' thread
