    Pot on or plant out?

    Hi all,

    These sweetcorn are destined for the polytunnel bed. They're getting too big for these root trainers, but I think it's still to early to plant out. Would I be best potting on, and do sweetcorn need deep pots?

    I've repotted mine as sweet corn are susceptible to frosts and don't do well in cold weather.
    Pot on aand wait until things warm up.

      Plant out into polytunnel and be prepared to cover with fleece if hard frost forecast

        Split the difference....

        We've cold weather over the whole UK next week following on from two or more really hot weeks! So I'd do nothing just yet and make a final decision next week when the weather has made up its mind.

          Nice spread of answers there! I'm hell-bent on getting a sweetcorn this year, so I think I'm going to pot on the biggest ones in deep pots and keep mollycoddling them until the weather settles down.

            I'm a newish gardener and have to say that I always pre-germinate my seeds and then sow them outside. I did the same with sweetcorn and they are growing fine without any fleece or protection. I know I should probably look after them better but at the moment - lets see what happens.

                I'm with RL. I'd put them in the tunnel with maybe a fleece cloche over them for added protection.
