  • Possible make or break question about potatoes.

To grow a sack full of potatoes all i need to do is to get a sack, compost and a a couple of seed potatoes.
Put about 4 inches of compost in sack plant the seeds and cover with another 4 inches, or so, of compost.
After a couple of weeks the plants will show through. Cover with compost.
Continue doing this until sack is full of compost.
The main crop potatoes can be harvested after 20 weeks.
    Is this right?
    If so
Could i still cover plants and harvest the potatoes from bottom therefore, given the conditions being right, having a never ending supply of potatoes?

    Do you mean like this?
Botanico Potato Planter - Twin Pack
The plant coudn't produce for ever as it would die at the end of the year anyway. I do take potatoes from the plant by furtling around in the soil and leave the rest to grow on.

And twenty weeks is at optimum growing conditions there is nothing set in stone and remember mother nature know more than anyone on here including me will ever know, my spuds have been in the ground for twelve weeks now and if I went by what the book says I should be digging them now the only problem with that is they are just now showing so I know I have another 11 weeks before I have a furkle to see what is undere them.

I was thinking of a system like the wormery system. Once one sack is full find a way of putting another one on top untill that is part full then remove the bottom one full of potatoes and let the other sack carry on.
If this is possible i have thought of a way of doing it.
