  • Poor broad bean yield.

My aquadulce broad beans were planted into large pots (I can only grow things in pots) last November and have been well watered and fed since. They look very healthy but there are only one or two beans in each pod.

Please can anyone tell me what I have done wrong? I haven't grown them before. Many thanks

I've not grown them in pots so I can't comment on that aspect. When I have a poor yield - even empty pods sometimes - it's usually because they've not been well pollinated. Or I wonder if it's because they're overwintered beans? I have variable results with them but have put it down to the weather - although my overwintered ones are grown in the polytunnel, they're usually a bit more random than the later outdoor ones?
