  • Planting out tom's...

Im thinking ahead as mine are not ready yet. So which way would be best?? Kept in big pot's or into the ground with support?? Would there be ok near first eariers spuds?? Or a risk of blight?? Thank's.

Toms and pots are same family, and if they cross polinate you can end up with deadly nightshade - pretty, but probably unwanted, and err.... deadly!

The OH plants (has planted) his 3cm high toms into long thin tubs with supports already in place.

But there are loads of other people who are already getting toms, so they may have other advice....
If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!

I didn't know about deadly nightshade and spuds!! Thanks. Hopefully eariles won't be in ground much longer. I've got lots of toms. I've got flower buckets for them two per pot. I did do a silly thing off when pitting up I've mixed them all up!!

That's not how it works. Deadly nightshade (Atropa belladonna) is a species in its own right, distinct from tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) and potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). Even if you could cross tomatoes with potatoes (which from a quick trawl through the literature appears to be very difficult if not impossible via pollination), the result would be a new hybrid plant, not an existing species.
