  • Pea trouble

I am having problems with my greensage peas...because I haven't got any!

I have loads of nice fat pods, but they're all empty! There are the teenie weenie dots where they should be and thats it!

    What have i done wrong?

Are they still flat like mangetout? If so, they just need time for the peas to form inside the pod and to swell up.

I have had one or two of these or the other one is a pod with two peas at one end a row of five or six pealets that didn't grow and then two peas at the other end of the pod, don't know what the answer is maybe some sort of hiccup when the flower was pollinated like seedless grapes

Hmm, I am stumped then. I have never seen a pod plump up without peas to fill it

have they been eaten by some bug? i harvested a load of peas last weekend and the odd few had teeny weeny caterpillars inside munching away on the peas, with no apparent sign of how they got in? The biggest ones were worst affected. I harvest them small as i like the sweetness, and the small ones had no caterpillars at all. If yours have been ready for a few weeks, this would have given the caterpillars plenty of time to snack on them?

Perhaps have a look at some half swelled ones to see if there are half grown peas inside? i can't think of how the pods would swell without something inside pushing them out?

              Its a mystery!
There are little "pip like things" where the peas are, they just haven't grown.
I've decided to get rid of them, I have waited three weeks now for a change but nada. Time to get something a bit more productive in me thinks!
              Thanks for the replies!
