Is it true that peas won't climb the same pole twice? I just read this on a post on the river cottage site.

Sounds an interesting one. But since in reality the same pea won't grow twice and you plant new ones each year I guess it wouldn't be a problem. Can't wait to see what all the more experienced gardeners say to this!!Happy Gardening,

Scuse me, but aren't we supposed to rotavate the crops? Surely you wouldn't put peas in the same place twice??? (or do you move the sticks)

Pea (and bean) sticks or canes can be re-used if sound. When the crop is finished pull up the sticks, clean them and store in the shed. Yes, you should rotate crops if you can - it stops build up of diseases and pests, and different crops need different levels of nutrients.Comment
