For the last 10 years, my parsnips have taken between 6 weeks and 4 months to germinate in a raised bed. This year I sowed 2 x fifteen foot rows in a raised bed 3 weeks ago and have 80% germination. I've done nothing different to what I did in previous years, but there they are.

I have three rows of parsnips in loo rolls but the direct sown has not put in an appearance yet. Couldn't do any more in loo rolls as I ran out of them.

They do say that dampened squares of newspaper hung on a nail on the back of the loo door work well..................

I pre germinated mine on a damp bit of kitchen that was put on a plate. Then the whole lot was wrappen in cling wrap. Seemed to speed everything up

The "will they, wont they?" of parsnip germination is on again! I was getting desperate, but after (only, but it felt like months) 3 weeks the parsnips sown in the raised beds have appeared and now tiny, tiny tendrils are beginning to appear on the ones on damp paper in the airing cupboard! Happy days.
