    Pak Choi??

    My Pak Choi appears to have flowered and gone to seed....it was just starting to get going....
    I'll snip the growing buds and hope they put some more size on...?
    How big should they grow? Celery size?

    Pak Choi is notorious for bolting, esp. in warm weather. It likes to be cool. My best crops come in the 'winter'.

      ok...think i might still stir fry them anyway....hopefully this colder snap will help

        Stirfry them anyway - they do start to get tough and bitter once they flower though ...

        They appear to prefer being shady rather than in full sun, and definitely need keeping moist at all times.

        The minute they think they're threatened or overheated they go to seed - mine were beautiful in the shade round the back till I planted them out in the sunny front garden! Grr!

          Could I try sowing some now? I planted too early this year and they bolted.

            i sowed some seeds in modules a few about a week ago,within a few they are starting to come through,so i hope they will go on growing,my summer ones bolted,yes,i know now lol

              lucky you, I couldn't get hold of any seeds locally, and I really wanted to try pak choi this winter after seeing that it was a winter cropper on TV

              will try to get hold of some seeds next year again. we don't have a decent garden centre within 10 miles us and I don't drive, its a pain.

                    i got mine from kings seeds,catalogue via the lottie,i chose canton dwarf last year,but as i said it bolted,so as yet no idea what it's like,i forgot about them until recently when sorting out my seeds before selecting for next year,08/09 price is,75p for 125 seeds,i believe kings are on line,the phone no is 01376 570000,just another option,there are more out there.

                      I have seen them online and they are on the list for next year.
                      It gets expensive ordering one thing, especially when you only need a few seeds not hundreds.

                      as I already have all the seeds for spring bar 1 or 2 , it's better to leave it.
