help what should i do my overwintered onions are bolting i have lost all my carrots to they bolted dont know were i am going wrong

Its been a very wierd year so far...
Suggest lack of water? My spinnach has bolted at about 4cm high, and some of my salad leaves bolted before they'd germinated (well, slight exageration).
i think the onions may still be edible, there was another thread about this somewhere...If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC! -
Mine have started bolting too, it's the fluctuations in temp and possibly lack of water. Use them up first. As for your carrots, are you sure they're bolting? When did you sow them and what exactly are they doing?Comment

Snip off the flower heads and use these up first, weather this year has been mental so far, dont beat yourself up about itComment

i overwintered sowed them about september i thought thats what i was ment to do its my first year growing but the green foilage was about 3 foot high with flowers appearing and hardly and carrots when i pulled them they were rock hardOriginally posted by Two_Sheds View PostComment

Mine have been throwing up flower stalks but I've jut been breaking them off ........not lifted any of them yet tho' ......I'll probably slice and freeze them .S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

My onions are going the same way. Not going to overwinter again - spring plantings were fine last year, but I thought I might get bigger onions by overwintering.Are y'oroight booy?Comment

I overwintered my Early Nantes carrots - quite acceptable to do so - I do keep 'em covered with a wee poly tunnel thought....
