  • Osprey: delicious potato

I've just eaten the most delicious, creamy potato (sold as Jackets)

    Osprey

the Potato Council recommend it for boiling rather than jackets, but it is my new favourite.

I tried jogging, but I couldn't keep the ice in my glass.

Do you know if they are suitable for growing in buckets?

Yes they should be fine to grow in buckets.
They can grow a very large crop.

I've got not much, if any ground free for potatos this year, so buckets / bags are the best option for me? I suppse the bigger the container the better? I was going to use 75 ltr compost bags. Doe sthat seem a good size?

In addition what about location? Sunny, shaded? I was thinking of turning the bags inside out (so the black was on the outside) but do you think this would cause the potatoes to get too hot - or am i just making it all too complicated!!

Yes Osprey is a cross of Kestrel with a cross of Stroma and Sante.

They sound interesting don't they? I Googled them and came up with a link to someone who'll sell them as individual tubers

edit: the £5.95 postage charge means it's not worthwhile only buying one or two tubers though

Ask your local garden centre if they are getting some in stock.
Yes £5.95 for a couple of tubers does make them expensive I know.

Always good to get feedback on spuds. Gonna give them a try next year. Thanks all.

So, has anyone found Osprey in a shop?
£6 P&P is just too much for me.

if they are a cross between kestrel and sante, does that mean they have good slug resistance as well?
