  • Which onions to try?

I'll be growing onion sets into large grow bags.
Advice please, as to which variety would be best?

I like Sturon, which are reliable, keep well and are not too strongly flavoured.

I've had good success with Santero which is resistant to downy mildew.

Are you looking to grow red, white or golden?

I'm growing a few different ones so I won't bore you with each but the one I'm excited about is wallah wallah from seed that are apparently so sweet you can eat them like an apple

I would suggest NOT to grow barron, dunno about everyone else but I just done get anything to write home about, they are the size of golf balls.

I am trying santero like wendy but looking for others so will be following this thread

                      Wallah wallah!

Spunky, never heard of 'wallah wallah' - going to have to look them up. But eating like an apple ... Sounds a bit unusual !!

Saw some heat treated sets from marshalls, VC, but was going to cost me more in postage than the sets ... So haven't purchased yet ...
