    Hey Lottie,

I transplanted Winter Onions grown from seed (Hi-Ball) into one of my strawberry beds last October and had no problems.....The onions grew fine and were ready from June-ish onwards and the strawberries were fine too....
The strawberry plants in that particular bed have put on a serious amount of growth this year (foliage wise), so might not get anything in there this year...
..wouldn't be puttting onions in there again anyways from a rotation point of view....
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

HI TMU,we will have 6 raised beds to go at,just for carrots and strawbs, thats why i said about marking where the onions go,for rotation,as well as the strawbs and carrotts, maybe a chart on the shed wall, with bed no's on,with a note on top, confused .com ,just thought it would give me more growing room for me squashes, and them am planning on trying out the grow up frames,
the strawbs are this years saved runners, planted aprox 16in both ways,i plan on replacing the strabs every 3 years, and put them where the carrots have been,if i only use 1 of the carrot beds for other produce, then that should seem me fine, hence a chart on the wall,i am trying to grow very different from my old ways, never to old to learn,

All sounds good....I thought you meant growing them together side by side at the same time....
Now sounds like you mean to follow the taken-up strawberries with onions...

        is that it?

No,let them share the same bed x2 for i year, then next year move em to another 2 beds,it means that sometimes they will end up with carrots, just as long as the carrots and onions move to a different bed each year, recone i got it worked out now thanks, all i wanted to know was of personal experience in planting the 2 together, and you have answered me beautifully thankyou very much,i am altering the main growing area all about, the only thing NOT being moved is the fruit cage,so it's very much like staring from new with a lottie,my aim is to have an easier place to garden in,it is very hard work at the mo,but will be worthit next season, providing the weather plays ball, thanks again TMU,

                Hi Lottie

I put onion and garlic sets all through the strawberry patch last winter. They did superbly, I've a vague feeling that they also helped fend off the fox cubs that devoured my strawberries the previous year, although that could be a red herring.

I interplanted onions and strawberry plants last year and they all did well. The only issue it was much harder to put a net over the Strawberries as the onions were too high.
