  • Onion Sets? What to sow?

Is it the right time to plant onion sets?
If I plant them now when will they be ready?
Also if you don't mind helping me out with a bit of advise, is there anything that I can grow from seed now so late in the season?

    Many thanks in advance

Most salad stuff will still produce a crop as will the likes of carrots(sow an early type though) beetroot, turnips. I would even chance growing a crop of early potatoes if you could get some seed. Three months should let you get a decent crop.

Too late for onions for this year but you can plant an overwintering variety such as senchyu(spelling ?) yellow in October/November to give you an early crop next year.

Vegetables to Sow in July include:
Spring onions (like White Lisbon), kohl rai, chantenay carrots, quick growing lettuce leaves, oriental leaves, Pak Choi, spring cabbage (for next year), turnip, swede, spinach and more.

Its also about the right time to buy seed potatoes to grow for christmas.

      Hope that helps.
