I planted my onion sets in cell trays in the greenhouse, hardened them off and planted in a raised bed in april. The tips of the leaves have turned yellow, any one have any idea what is wrong with them

Up until the last few days it's been pretty dry up here. Also fairly windy, so both of these are possibilities. But mainly the tips of onions tend to go yellow whatever -- I don't think I would worry!

maybe just a wee bit stressed after being planted out. Try a foliar feed with liquid seaweed to perk them up and get them going.

Mine have doen the same. I have thrown some onion feed granules at them, but am worrying it might be disease/ However we have had awful weather up here in the Lakes.....cold.... wet and windy. When I first planted them out we had the week of summer temps, so could it be a drought when planting? I am trying onions for show this year so hoping they are ok.

I'm also in Cumbria and my onions are doing the same but then they often do. I'd just leave em to get on with it or do as AP says and give em a bit of a tonic. Half a dozen of my overwintered ones have bolted which is far more serious than a few yellow leaves.

I guess all our veggies are as fed up with the weather as we are but with higher temps forecast for this coming week I can see things really taking off.

Mine have improved as the night time temps have warmed up. I remember worrying about it last year and the guys here said they would be fine so left them as. The overwintering onions have also started to fill out now so hopefully in a months time they'll be ready
