    Oca and Yacon

    I managed two harvest a couple of Oca plants and 2 out of 3 of the Yacon today before the rain defeated me.

    Not grown them before so wasn't sure what to expect. The Oca is lovely, like lemony new potatoes. The Yacon is OK, only tried it on its owns far but DH had it with pineapple and said it's good and is sticking some in a curry for tea. Was pretty surprised how big some of the tubers were.

    Think I'll do them again, both were pretty easy and great having more stuff to harvest in the winter.

    My oca is still in its tub so haven't tried eating it yet. I'm interested to hear your verdict on Yacon as its tempting to try growing that too. Keep us posted!

      what sort of harvest do you get from the Oca, I'm quite tempted, but as it's pricey to buy, I'd like a decent yield

        To be honest, not huge amount from each plant so far. But I've only dug up 2 of the 6 or 7 I've got in there and it's was starting to rain hard, am not confident I have them all.

        I'll update again when I've got them all up and got more to grips with the Yacon. Curry smells lovely and making my mouth water . I'm going to trawl the net and find some different ways of using it.
