Never mind sweets, they're like buses - there'll be another one along soon.

It probably hadn't been pollinated and would have fallen off anyway!

I mended a half-snapped tomato plant with a plaster only today.
Hope it works, I snapped the top foot off when I was trying to move the pot to the other end of the greenhouse

(Anyone know whether you just leave it on, or will this restrict the growth and if I take it off, how do I know when the plant has healed?!)

Piskie :cries for pumpkin:
we got flowers but no sign of an actual pumpkin yet. (Are pumpkin flowers male / female like courgettes and things? or??)

First few of my pumpkins fell off but was no surprise as I have not seen a male flower yet.

Our pumpkin last year grew one measly fruit, which fell off when we were in the states. So, I left a round courgette to get really big and was going to paint it orange. Can't quite remember what happened but that was the plan. It made the neighbours laugh when I told them why I was growing super huge round courgette.

Had a look at the pumpkin this morning and took off the first few fruits just in case they had not set. The plants are now about ten foot long and there are male and female flowers open so should now get a good set. Am trying to get a bigger one this year so will only grow 2 per plant. Best I got last year was a 30 lb which by pumpkin standards was pretty miserable.
