  • Is it normal for a Flower on Courgette this early

I spent the whole day yesterday repotting flowering tomatoes and courgettes, my question really is it normal for the courgette to be flowering this early I have read other posts and most people have flowering tomatoes but cant find anyone with flowering Courgettes.

Mine have buds and are planning on opening soon. I sowed mine early to mid march though so they have had a head start

Here's one, from last week. A couple of mine have them; I've potted them on and they are going outdoors soon - very soon.

I potted mine on yesterday, and they had several flowers on them which I pinched off so they put their energy into growing instead.

Mine have buds too, and are still on my windowsill! I think I'd better start hardening them off - my living room is starting to look like a jungle.

My courgettes are starting to form flowers too, will they be ok indoors 'til June? We had a frost last night and are expecting frosts most nights this week (it's sunny warm days and clear cool nights atm). Or, would it be ok to put them in the ground under fleece once I've finished hardening them off?

            Thanks!

Mine are ready to go in the ground from the pots. I'm just hardening them off for a few days. Then I'll keep an eye on the frost. I'm gonna fleece em.

I haven't long sowed my courgette seeds (Week and a half ago) but they are now ready to go into their pots (really need to buy some- didn't think they would grow so quickly )

The first female flower on my courgette opened up over night! So pretty!

It's only in a pot about 5" square but I only potted it on a couple of weeks ago and the roots are just starting to show up at the wholes in the base so I'm going to leave it another week or two before moving it into a bigger pot.

I started feeding it with tomato food a couple of days ago.

Maybe I should be doing this too? In another thread Zazen mentioned removing the little courgettes that form behind the female flowers when they get to 2-3" until the male flowers have developed.

Is it best to remove the male and female flowers until the plant is at a bigger size?

Will I shock the plant too much if I re-pot it while it's forming flowers?

No, it won't be shocked....if the roots are showing out of the bottom it will be well pleased for more soil and a light feed.

Do the courgette stems need any support- my seedlings are getting taller!

It shouldnt shock the plant at all by potting it on as long as you dont disturb the roots too much.

I have been picking the baby courgettes off for a couple of weeks now, obviously I have been eating them raw mmmm
