  • Next year I WILL....

Remember to put in follow on lettuces. Second year that I have had to hastily buy plants to replace and go to supermarket for them in the meanwhile.
No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.

Not assume that just because something did well last year it will do so this year. Doubled my broad beans this year and harvested about a fifth of last year. Hey ho!

Label EVERYTHING- I have a tray of cavolo nero into which I popped something else, all are growing well but cannot for the life of me remember what I put in the middle. Don't know if it is ornamental or edible so will have to pot on until I do.

Well I have quite a few but I think my main two are not to plant seeds to early and sow my beans direct. I ended up having stuff ready to go out when it was far to cold for them and my beans were a disaster so sowed direct and they are cracking on well.

Not sow 50 of something when I only need5 "Just to be sure I get some" then try and find the space for all of them even though I don't need that many.

But... if you had only sowed 5 seeds only 1 would have germinated! This happened to me recently - I sowed 8x broccoli seeds, 2 germinate so then decided to do a whole 24 module seed tray with same compost, seed etc and 22 germinate - typical!

                      Good job I like broccoli!

not for one second consider growing onions.
It costs less to buy them from a supermarket then it does for the sets, and they are at least big enough to eat from a supermarket.

Not to try and cram too much in my very small space and try not to buy seeds to try just because they are unusual or something I have never heard of.
