  • New Poll! Who do you garden with?

Whether you're someone who enjoys working the veg plot alone, a team player in a growing club or community group, the type that launches a weed attack as a family event, or the person that is brave enough to get digging with the other half, we want to know who you garden with most and why?*

Most of my gardening is done either alone or with the help of my grandchildren. They love coming to the allotment with me.

I garden alone - its not a question of choice but necessity. My dogs keep me company though; they're good at digging but hopeless at planting out!

Just me most of the time with a little bit of 'help' from my youngest daughter. I love it, it's my 'me' time

I start by going alone. Only Ma tags along for the walk. She might potter around and then go back home when I start to do whatever I need to. Granddad mike sometimes takes a walk down. When it comes to doing stuff, I prefer my own company. It's just me, the wiggly woos and of course the psychotic hobbitland squirrels. Is me time, where nothing has my attention, and there's a different type of job satisfaction gained from it.

Just me and occasionally the cats help with the digging!!

Whilst Snowdrop loves to see a nice garden, he isn't a gardener at all (yet!) but the odd thing is he is actually very good it, he has a really good eye for design and does help me with hefty projects.

I garden alone for the majority of the time. Just me, the soil, the clouds, the birds and my music box stuffed full of heavy metal and proggy rock tunes! (I'm 62) ! Cheers, Tony.

I garden alone unless there's something I can't physically do then Mr Pot's helps out under my watchful eye because after all the garden is hobby.

There's just me and the Robin - unless the cat decides it's warm enough to venture out

I answered 'with a partner', as that's one of our great joys and a big part of what brought us together... but all the above options are applicable really!

Our children, parents and friends have all contributed to our seed gathering, planting, growing, harvesting and eating.

I'm a miserable auld git and get on well with my own company. My allotment is my 'bolt hole' and my own personal oasis

Usually alone or with my cat who likes to come outside whenever I'm in the garden and supervise things.

I garden either alone, when family are at work or school, with them when they are home or with Rupert my dog, who sits on the garden chair in the greenhouse and oversees my efforts. I never feel alone though with my radio, coffee and seeds/compost. My greenhouse is my sanctuary and my allotment is an oasis of calm with sweeping views o'er fields to the river.

I try and garden alone, it's my 'me time', the time when I feel most at one with myself, if that makes sense? Weirdly, I love the 'hard labour' jobs, like double digging, it becomes very theraputic, letting me 'tune out', and just focus on my thoughts and the job at hand. I love the thought process of 'if I dig this, then I can plant this'.

More often than not though, I end up with three little 'helpers'! They love to sow seeds and look after them, which is in itself a sort of bonus! I love the fact that they are learning at the same time as enjoying themselves.
