Hi brockie, welcome to the vine, did you tie the tops of the cauli?, usually they separate due to sunlight on the curds.

I have never had much luck with cauli - they are quite hard to grow, sounds like they have separated due to too much heat/sun or possibly too dry? They are not cut and come again.

Go to the garden centre and see if you can find some starter plants -not sure if there will be any in? swede?
I've just got a great book - Salad for all seasons by Charles Dowding. So if you like salad, seed you can sow now, tho' not necessary for picking in dec - pak choi, rocket, spinach, winter purslane, mitsuba, mizuna are a few.
I think you still have time to sow swiss chard(tail end of sowing) will die down later on but should come back early spring.

Depends what you like? You can still sow lettuce, pak choi, kohl rabi, turnips maybe, carrots, late potatoes.... I reckon if you get some plants from the garden centre or somewhere you could plant out PSB, kale, etc which you might harvest for xmas or just after (Jan/Feb).
