Not sure as I've never grown anything before. Will I have plenty of room for other things?

Well, it really depends on how much of these you want to grow, what other veg do you like?

Are you on an allotment or garden?

There is a thread on 'square foot' gardening that might be worth you having a read.

Best to make raised beds less than 4 feet wide so that you can reach the middle without treading on the soil . Are you putting in onion sets or seeds?

Yh I've realised that now. I might make a little path to walk on in the middle so it easier. I got some onion bulbs from a friend but also have seeds

Hello and welcome to the vine Luke

If you're growing in just the one bed I'd follow Dotty's advice and use the square foot method. have a read at the thread :-

I agree with Dotty & Bren, for this year, I would put in a small path then mark out the remaining 2 beds into square feet, plant something different in each square, when you pick from a square you can re-fill it with a different crop then next year you will have an idea of what you want to grow.

Hi. welcome amongst us. you patch looks a little shaded by the close hedge ..but hey..needs must! I grow what i consider pricey veg. parsnips are expensive over here and corn on the cob is aswell as are new potatoes. i dont see the point in wasting valuable ground on the cheapest veg like onions, carrots and tatas apart from obviously the pleasure and taste. if you love salads try some funky coloured beetroots or spring onions..radishes rocket lettuce, id say definately have a butternut but right in the corner and trail them out the bed as they can take over space pretty quick. im only 1 1/2 yrs old as garxening goes so im very inexperienced compared to everyone on here but yeh.my summary is. plany what you like but dont waste space on the cheapest veg.
