If a butterfly had to get in there it would have to be about 3mm long, so yes I should say its small enough mesh.
Beware though when you use net curtain, it gets really heavy when wet, so support it well and keep it off your plants. If it does touch the plants and there is a frost I find it makes it worse."Orinoco was a fat lazy Womble"
