    Needs some purple ideas

    My daughter has purple gardening beds and I keep trying to find purple veg for her to grow

    Carrots are a favourite & auberginbes, purple callies. But the plot needs a change from those any ideas ?

    Salad Blue spuds - ok, so the leaves are still green, but the spuds are a bluey-purpley colour and taste fabulous.
    And just thought - there are purple varieties of globe artichokes and asparagus, but they perhaps need more time to grow.
    Purple kohl-rabi is another

      Beetroot, purple sprouting broccoli, chives, borage, phacelia(not edible but attracts the bees) purple chillies (might not like it outside though depending on variety)...
      Ooh and red cabbage (which is really purple), some varieties of runner beans are purple and you can get reddish/purple lettuce too.

            As I mentioned done Brassica & carrots already so need other groups on rotation..

            Think globe artichokes and asparagus are too long term & I do salad blue & other colours, but have decided this year all spuds are in bags as I seem to always miss a few in the beds ! & bags are giving better results anyhow

            Purple kohl-rabi like but Brassica again Found some purple sping onions...

            Peas & beans might be the best option !

              Purple Giant climbing beans; a very kind grape sent me some last year and they are fantastic. They do grow tall so need long canes but crop prolifically and look really good on the stems. I've saved a few seeds for next year so if you want to try, just pm me with your address and I'll post some off.

                      Violetta broad beans

                        Where did you get seed potato for them been looking for ages !
