hi i grew about 5 dorset nagas this year and one grew quite large there were lots of flowers then 4 or 5 fruit appeard which were green then they turned red problem is they are no bigger than a garden pea can anyone tell me what went wrong cos i were expecting the fruit to be larger

Maybe weather,not enough nutrtion whetther it light or it is minerals. I would say cut the tops of plants make the produce more or bigger fruit.Dont judge a plant by it's pot. -
Mine are the same. I think I sowed too late and the summer wasn't the greatest. I am cutting hard back and will try and overwinter to see if I get better ones next year.Mad Old Bat With Attitude.

Definatly try overwintering them. I think they're supposed to have a really long growing season anyway and I have read that they can be finicky to pollinate. I'm planning on starting mine as early as possible to try and maybe mitigate the issue.The Impulsive Gardener

Yes, almost definitely. Nagas do need a long season, when did you start yours? I started mine mid Feb from seed, but am planning to start next batch in Jan. I had several decent sized fruit this year and they live up to their reputation regarding heat.Originally posted by holty66 View Post

I'd say it was the season....prob not long enough maybe not hot enough....they aren't massive anyway...i got about 5 off mine this year.

i started my patio sizzles on the 27th september. they're looking good already, squat, hard looking plants with 4 sets of leaves.
on the right is what they look like at this time of year when all the leaves have fallen off.Comment

Nagas are a bit of a pig to grow. I planted all my new chillies about 2 weeks ago (I used to follow instructions but I reckon I'm a big boy now, particularly round the middle, so plant what I like when I like). So far, of my new plants, I have germination from:-
Jalapeno, Tam jalapeno, Medusa, Orange Habanero, Pinnochio's nose, Purple Tiger and Tepin and I have 7 others over-wintering.
That leaves me 8 to kick in, including the 3 hotties, Dorset Naga, Yellow Scotch Bonnets and Choc. Habanero. No. I am not a total chili head, in fact I can only eat the mild ones now, on medical advice. But what can you do when you just love growing them and all the nice grapes that you have sent seeds to this year insist on sending something back and you are a bit stuck so you ask for something different in chillies and you end up with this lot. Fun on this forum isn't it? Thank you grapes.

just put one half of a pea size chilli in my dinner a stew then made my 9 year old son some cheese on toast he is now saying his lips and tongue are stinging i think i should have washed my handsComment
