    are my peas trying to tell me something?

    The plants are about 12 inches high and producing peas - you know, the sort that don't make it into the kitchen but a lot of the plants are yellowing and they have thin stems where they are in the ground. I thought they would grow higher and not die back so quickly so, my question is; is this normal or can I do something to help?

    Too hot and dry maybe?

      Thankyou RL - yes, they are in full sun and it has been very dry lately * gets watering can

        They are often described as a 'cool season' plant. Only, it does sometimes get hot in summer (I say 'sometimes' advisedly!) Try really soaking the soil then mulching with something - grass clippings, newspaper, anything that will keep the roots a bit damper and cooler.

          Mine have started to turn yellow too, despite a good mulch and a weekly watering. They're nearly over though: I picked a carrier bag full today (and only one maggot) and will get another tomorrow.
