    Mushrooms

    Have a freshly cut down tree and saved a couple of sections of the trunk with the idea of growing some mushrooms.

    Has anyone tried growing them previously using the dowel plugs which you place into the trunk. Would be interested to know what sort of result anyone has had before I take the plunge and order some. Thanks.

    I tried three years ago using freshly cut birch logs and I've yet to see a single mushroom. I followed the instructions to the letter so not an experiment I'll be repeating.

      If you do a search you'll find that there are a couple of threads on this already and the general consensus seems to be that they don't work and aren't worth the money.

      Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

      Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
