Mushroom Kit Instructions

Step 1, empty the contents of the clear bag into the polystyrene box, spread it out, cover (with the lid, but as you haven't got one, find something the right size). Keep in 20-25C and mist with a sprayer to keep damp.

Step 2, After 10 days, open the white bag of compost, moisten with water (not soggy!), and put on the top of the mushroom compost.

Step 3, Cover again and put in a cooler place 16-20C. Check evrey 2 days, spraying to keep moist.

Step 4, Do not spray pinhead mushroom (they rot off), wait until they are about the size of a pea. (This is where I've had problems, because I had loads of pinheads, and it needed water!)

Step 5 Harvest mushroom when they are around 3cm. Keep misting (see step 4).

It says you should get 3 flushes of mushrooms. I had 11 from the first lot, loads of pinheads that didn't develop, and now I've got 2 more coming. An interesting idea, but not as easy as it sounds. Mine was a Christmas pressie, I don't know it would be worthwhile at full price.

Thanks BarleySugar, I'll start the first bit off today By what you say they wouldn't have been worth the full price but nevermind.

I was going to (and still might) get some spawn plugs & put them in a log I've got in my front garden.

i got one of those kits kits, i have put the mushroom compost in 2 weeks ago on wednesday it was and nothing yet!!! just the top of the compost going a little moldy!!!

If you go on youtube and look up ( claires allotment mushrooms) she will show you how to use the kits and step by step on what to look for.
