Mung Bean Plant... How to grow?

Hi

I've moved your thread put of Growing Techniques, as that is not a Q&A forum.

I did the same with pinto beans last year, and got enough of a crop to freeze for my chillis, and only ran out of beans a few weeks back.

Almost forgot I posted this... The first bean I planted kind of rotted in the pot. I tried two more last week and one of them is pushing through the compost, but it seems at a very slow rate.

Maybe they're similar to Pinto beans. Zazen, is there anything you can tell us that may help?

Aye - sow later as the beans rot if sown earlier. I'm STILL picking pintos from my later sowings. What's that all about - it's NOVEMBER this weekend.

I sowed a half dozen this spring in tubs on the kitchen windowsill, three came away, eventually I planted them out at the allotment and they flowered, but they never set seed. Still growing away the last I saw.

How did your mung bean plants go? I'm looking at growing some this year, just sowed some seeds into pots on my windowsill

If memory serves me right, mung beans won't set in the UK climate. They need hotter temperatures.
