  • Multiple types of aspargus in one bed?

    Hi

I'm a newbie (1 year in) and having had (I think anyhows) quite a succesful first year I am keen to expand the range of veggies & fruit grown

First on the hit list is asparagus, which I plan on growing in a raised bed

Does anyone know whether its OK to put more than one variety in the same bed - ie any cross pollination types things to think about?

    Thanks

I'm sure it'd be fine - cross pollination only matters when you're going to be saving seeds. But as it's the stalks you'll be eating, I can't see it being a problem!

      Hi Rookie bear
      Welcome to the vine!
I'm also at the end of my first growing season (and very pleased with the results I am too, if I do say so myself lol) - have got some asparagus started from seed in spring to plant next year but only one variety.
      Good luck with yours
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

I have red and green varieties in one bed.
I don't collect seeds so it's no problem for me.

Nice to have a selection of colours....

        ...and welcome to the Vine!!
