Put in our last plants at the 4 foot row spacing of our old ones.

Growth this year has just been silly & we can't get near the inner canes,

Can I transplant one row this autumn - & if so how best?

If you wait until late autumn/early winter, let the plants go dormant, then you can move them without worry. Definitely give yourself a bit more space than you've currently got You could move them now if you're desperate, but it's not recommended as you'd need to water them daily due to the heat and transplant shock.

When you want to move them, just dig them out with a fork, I usually trim the roots back at this point so I've got a nice sized rootball. Then just dig a hole where you want them, mix in a bit of compost if you like.
