I today found some raspberry canes/suckers and a few gooseberry bushes amongst the brambles whilst clearing the plot today, but am planning on having my freind come and dig it over with a small digger...so will these plants react well to being put in pots for a month or so until I can put them in the final positions?

When are you planning on digging them up? I would have thought during the winter would be better....
but gooseberries and the like are tough little things, so you might be lucky...why not take some hardwood cuttings just incase?

I would think that providing you don't damage any roots by taking a very large root ball and put them in a good sized container all will be well.
