  • moving asparagus?

We have a quarter plot at a different site and this will be our last year working it, due to practicalities.

It has an asparagus bed, can I move them to my other site? Cant bear to leave them as they are just coming good now! If I can move them any tips?

Yes, move them. Cut back the ferns (if there are any left) and dig them up with as much root as possible. Get them into the new bed asap.

Hurray! I need to prepare the new bed first tho! We have 2 quarter plots at another very rough site, but its close enough for me to get to on my bike. Its heavy clay though. We hopefully will be swapping a newer almost (but covered) unworked plot, for a another quarter next door to our other plot.

Need to get lots of sand really to work in! Its on an old clay mine so very hefty stuff. BUt the new swapped plot ha been worked under permaculture principles so the soil is on really good nick.

I've moved some...as RL suggests- take as much soil ( sideways and down) as you can with them
