  • Maskotka Tomato?

Maskotka Tomatoes are a bush variety yet the one I am growing looks nothing like a bush tomato plant but more like a cordon. Here's a couple of pictures...

You might be able to see my two little Tumbling tom plants behind which actually look like a bush tomato plant.

I've grown this variety for several years and this definitely looks different, my plants are low, sprawling and untidy.

They grow vertically for a bit them keel over and drape down my hanging baskets. A lovely tomato.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Hopefully mine will remember it's meant to be a bush tomato and start looking like one haha.

I grew these in 2014 and they were vigorous and quite tall, I staked them to keep the fruit off the ground.
Just because they're determinate doesn't mean they have to be small plants.

It will, as Alison says they grow up and then start to flop over. The tumbling toms are really dense and have much smaller fruit than the Maskotka and they aren't as tasty either!

The tastiness was the reason I bought some Maskotka seed coz I read on here they were better than Tumbling tom.

I grew these last year, it was definitely a bush variety but I got hardly any fruit from it.

Yes Alison, I got a lot on the Tumbling Toms but not so much on the Maskotka. We did have a very wet summer last year where nearly everything failed. I'll maybe try them again next season as everyone says they have a great taste. This year I'm trying Principe Borghese and a tumbling one which I can't remember the name of at the minute, cherry falls, does that sound right?
