  • Maskotka - pinch or not?

That is the question. I know they are a bush type, so I guess I should leave them do their thing? Or would I get fruit much earlier by pinching the sideshoots?

    Thanks as always

With bush tomatoes the fruit is produced on the sideshoots, so I wouldn't advise pinching anything out just yet.

I grow them every year in hanging baskets and never pinch or anything, they branch out nicely but don't grow very long (I would say tall but as they're tumbling over the sides of the baskets it's more of a long ). Mine are still pretty small though so I couldn't pinch them out yet any way

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks Alison. Do you reckon they could be grown in the ground too? Would it get too messy tying branches up to keep them off the soil?

Just put cardboard on the soil around them...

Well they are a bush type so I'd have thought you could support them OK as you do with any others of that variety, I've just never tried
