Will seeds collected from a Marketmore cucumber grow true next season?

  • #2
yes they will grow true as long as they did not cross pollinate with another variety

If you've had any courgettes, squahes, any other cucurbit really, in the garden, you might get something strange and wonderful!

Sounds interesting, I have Marketmore & Hunter Butternut Squash in the same tubs. It's quite bizzare because it looks like one plant is producing both cucs & squashes. Is this possible?

to bad flummery's ideas are more fantasy then fact.
cucumbers can not cross with squash.
As for what crosses with what there are several charts that list which
          Cucurbitaceae cross with each other.

I thought it was too good to be true. I got home from work & went straight to the tubs to find the Cuc & Squash plant entangled. Because the leaves are the same, it gives the appearance of both fruit growing on one plant, silly me...........

Well then, 'tis probably an old wives' tale - but then, I'm an old wife!

                lol

I was thinking to myself, that must be a marvellous plant

As far as I know, cucumbers and squash can cross, but it's unlikely.

Thanks for the replies, I'm drying the seed now. When they fruit next year I will let any old wives know if they are weird and wonderful.
