    Little Problem with Chilli Plants

    I have noticed a little problem on 2 of my chilli plants yesterday. On some of the new shoots at the top of the plant I noticed some very small 'holes' on the leaves.

    I've nipped out the offending leaves and the rest of the plants look healthy. Does anyone know what may have caused this.....

    I have looked in my Dr Hessayon book re problems with chillis and the only thing he says that looks like your leaf i.e the brown bits is red spider mite but you would have seen those little blighters on the underside of the leaf. I have tried Stig, sorry PLSteve but do not have any other suggestions.
    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

      Looks like a mite of some form. Are the undersides white and fluffy?

      Had similar last year, and this was solved with a veg pest spray - after one plant lost all it's leaves and flowers as a result. Came back healthy though.

        I've had this a few times - If it gets bad spray it, otherwise remove damaged leaves as you have done and make sure the plants are fed and well aired. Get them outside when it's nice (if at all possible) or get the windows/vents open at the very least - in fact, I always do this with plants if they look a bit peaky and 99% of the time it really makes a difference.           Thanks for the advice all.

          I had a good look arount the plants yesterday and didnt see any mites. However I have nipped the leaves off and given them a spray with veg pest spray.

          Fingers crossed there is no long term damage to them

            Steve - nothing whatsoever to do with your chilli leaf prob! - do your crops grow as fast as your avatar? And should we call you Stig going forward?
