  • Let the Courgette onslaught begin!!

Well up until today our only courgettes were coming from a self seeded plant(&a couple of tiddlers from a couple of the intentional plants)~but I think battle has well & truly commenced!!Roll on courgette bred/cake/pickle/chutney& off course courgette for dinner every night from now until pumpkin!! My second bestest glut of the year!(nothing can beat the pumpkin!)

I'm sick of 'em already !!

I actually ate about 2 pounds roasted with my garlic the other day and I chucked in some french beans too (another glut) they went crispy but nice !!

    Get your 5 a day ..... I wish.

I'm trying to just eat about 10 a day

Note to self...must buy more toilet paper..
Please have a look at my Veg Growing Diary.

I was told by LadyWayne that I'd grown too many courgettes last year. So this year I only planted 3 plants - one of which looks like it's on its way out. I've had two courgettes so far..

Funnily enough, when I popped into the plot en route from Tescos, I cut my one (very large) courgette and my neighbour asked if I wanted any.

I only had one plant this year, but have resorted to freezing the things. I'm getting about 7 a week and live alone, so struggle a bit with such volumes! I'm eating lots of veggie curries and tried the chocolate and courgette cake. Not my thing, though, so wil stick to plain courgette cake!!

I'm planning a courgette soup, next. What a marvellous cheat's way of using them!

I have six plants, between me and a 3yo - eek!

Currently I'm picking them as babies and either slicing them to bung in whatever else I'm making or stir frying them whole with mangetout and things... I'm keeping on top of it so far but every time I go out there I spot more! Haven't had to resort to making soup or courgette cake yet, but I'm sure it won't be long, the rate they are starting to produce!

(Going to a housewarming soon, guess what they'll be getting for their pressie? - yep, a vegbox, heavy on the courgettes lol. Been sounding out people at work today as well, reckon I can get a few taken off my hands that way. It's all good!)
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.
