  • Leek bugs?

Have been growing leeks and have today noticed loads of tiny yellow bugs (about half the size of a grain of rice) all over the base of each plant. Any ideas what they are and how I stop them coming back next year? Cheers

Did they look like they had legs like a bug or more like a caterpillar? could be Leek moth but they usually don't lay till October or so round here.
Try this and see if it looks similar.

If it is Leek moth I had success with the cutting off the leek at ground level and letting it regrow as suggested by someone on the forums... I forget who now sorry.

What about thrips? Our plot veteran spotted some on some of ours once, but I think they were bright orange. I know nothing about them though.
