  • Large Heated Propagator - what now?

I've just bought a 52cm Stewart heated propagator, primarily for chillies and sweet peppers. I'm now thinking, is there anything else more... exotic I might try? Any suggestions?

I'm also hoping to get some LED grow lights to help with light.

Hello clv & welcome to the vine. A heated prop is always a good investment for seeds that need some warmth to promote germination. Some seed packets may say what is the optimum germination Temperature. Here's a chart which may help you:

Temperature effect on vegetable seeds - percentage germination

Looking back, I'm not sure replying was a good idea as clv has only posted 3 times in almost 3 years........................bladdy chatterbox.

Have you also got a green house ClV? You could try's starting off some aubergines or maybe physalis early if you've got some lights. I'll be dusting my prop off soon, I start lots of seeds off in mine though mostly chillies and tomatoes.

            Where abouts are you based?
