  • Kibuts Ukraine Tomato.

    Anyone growing Kibits Ukraine tomato.
Three trusses of toms on the plant but nearly every tomsto has bottom rot.
I have lots of different varieties and all have been fed and watered the same way.
Just wondering is this a trait with this variety.

I've grown it for a good few years and never had BER, so I'm puzzled why yours have got it

My Kibitz toms are small bush tomatoes (as they're supposed to be) and I usually grow them inside one of those big cloche thingies. I wonder how yours got to be 5ft high

Mine have just gone into flower buckets and are only 9" high so I will let you know if they manage to grow and fruit before blight hits them

Thanks all. Mine are bush type as well. I will keep them for another while and see if there is any improvement.

Mine have yet to set any tomatoes. They are flowering and I'm assuming they're determinate so they're on the bench in flower buckets and are a couple of feet high. Hope they don't get BER. My understanding is that BER is caused by uneven watering.

Mark, I know BER is attributed to uneven watering but I have about 15 more plants of different varieties in the greenhouse, watered and fed in the same way and this is the only affected.

My experience is that some varieties are more susceptible to BER than others. In 2013 I grew Rio Grande for the first (and only) time as I lost all but two fruits off three plants but no other plant had BER that year. So I'm looking forward to see what happens with these.
