I have just planted out some red scarlet Kale and chinese cabbages. Should I cover this with fleece to protect? Can anyone help?

Shirl, chard or leafbeet is also excellent for hens (rabbits and guineas too).

Leaf beet is just another type of chard. Its leaves are smaller, more slender, and it's all green (ribs and leaf)

The flavour of most kales improve with a touch of frost. It's also the catalyst for turning the likes of Red Russian kale red!
