  • Is it just my PSB that's always so variable?

Grown PSB for several years and every year the plants are always so varied, it's unbelievable.
Some are really tall, some break into 3 different heads, some come early, some late, some small, some really bushy, some sparse.
Some of them carry on flowering well and some stop after the first flush.

I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, which I must be doing every year, or is seed always this variable for PSB?

They are outbreeders - they cross with each other rather than just self fertilising - so you do get variability. Makes them healthy though. If they just get their own pollen you get inbreeding depression. Better a varity than all being weedy!

            That's very true Snadger.

I have one plant this year with 6 (yes 6!, looks like an alien) heading stalks coming off the one root. So I picked 6 smallish central heads yesterday and I suppose will get tons of smaller ones, looks like it anyway.
