Default just killed my cucumbers

they have been growing indoors, in the airing cupboard at night, and on the windowsill during the day, but today i thought oooooo its lovely and sunny, i'll put them outside, then plant them in the garden later on in the week ....... they all wilted at the bottom of the stem, and shrivelled up ..... at least there was only 4 out of 10 seedlings, but i feel really guilty

and i've just spent half an hour watering the garden, and monsoon clouds have just come over and released their contents ...... there was completely blue sky an hour ago ..... wish the damned weather would make its mind up

Are they shrivelled up and crunchy i.e. definitely dead, or are they just really wilty but still green and floppy? If they are still green, they may recover overnight, just make sure they have enough water as they will need to have a good drink to get themselves back together again.

My peppers and pumpkins both suffered very badly on a hot day a couple of months ago - when I wasn't looking they wilted to all but dead but apart from a few damaged leaves they recovered amazingly well and are now going great guns. I just kept them in a cooler, shadier place until they perked up, it was amazing how quickly they recovered and I thought I'd killed 'em!

the stem at the bottom is totally flat, but i've given them a drink and left them in the utility room, where its cool, but it doesn't look very promising lol, they are only a couple of inches high, and the leaves were a bit yellow when they popped their heads out day before yesterday, 2 of them are a bit greener, today, but i think 2 of them are definitel dead, one is about half way, and the other might recover but i'm not holding my breath lol

the other 6 are just starting to pop their heads out, so fingers crossed these will be ok

the ones i planted straight in the garden aren't showing any signs of doing anything though, so hopefully. i'll get at least one plant that survives out of this lot.

i grew an umbrella plant from about 4 inches tall, it was about 5 foot in the end and too big for my house, so i put it outside and it died before i could find it a new home, but other than that i've never had much success with things it's impossible to kill ..... for some reason i'm ok with tropically things too, i have a purple leaved weird plant in the kitchen that i've had for 8 years and i split it in 3 every spring, cos everyone wants some .... i don't think i can kill it
