  • Jalapeno Problem

Hello and thanks for looking in on my problem

I have a jalapeno growing in my blow away, its about 3' tall now with lots of flowers on, its been flowering away for over a month now but after each flower blooms it shrivels up and dies inc the stem

If I look closely when the flower is in full bloom I can see a tiny jalapeno forming. The soil is pretty moist, in a pretty big pot (same as tomatoes) and is fed every week with tomato plant food.

I haven't a clue why this is happening so any clues, tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA

try letting it dry out a bit, and give the plant a shake to distribute the pollen when it's flowering. IBrush your finger on the flowers to pollinate although strctly speaking they are self-pollinating, it's not going to hurt.

Is it getting a draft I wonder?

Thanks for the reply's guys there greatly appreciated.

Will try brushing the pollen and lay off watering for a bit and yes, its near the door of the blow away so it could be in a draft, will try and reposition it if I can.

        Once again ... FanQ

It does sound like failed pollination; I find a few gentle but brisk taps on the stem helps. In the right light, you can actually see this causing the pollen to puff around.

          Hope it works!
