  • Jack be little pumpkins

we are growing jack be little pumpkins, they are now a deep yellow, not orange like the large pumpkins, when are they ripe?

Should I pick them now and store or leave on the vine for longer?

    Thanks

Was there picture on the seed packet? From a quick internet search I found a picture on Victorian Nursery website where there is a picture of the traditional orange ones and your Jack Be Little pumpkins together. Certainly the Jacks are more yellow. As to how to test for ripeness I'm not sure. Someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly I hope.

If the vine at the neck of the pumpkin has shrivelled and is dry and brittle they are ready to pick, you can dry them further by putting them in the greenhouse or on a sunny windowsill.
