  • Its raining at last!

Well its finally raining here in sunny Morecambe, seems like weeks since we had any, I am hoping it will start to fill the ibc container that I have attatched to my greenhouse.
I am also hoping it will soften the ground on the plot a little as all the hot dry weather made it rock hard and a pain to plant in.

Ooohhh, yes, I love the rain!

We are just down the road from you (Wyre), and my garden has been so parched and hard!

Before I started gardening I would have hated this weather, but I find now that I don't mind!

chucking it down here - first decent rain we've had for weeks. Lawn at back door is flooded and the dogs think it is great fun to rush out, tear around and come back indoors. Lovely and fresh now but I do hope it remembers to stop at some point - couldn't stand another summer like last year. At least the hosepipe will get a rest tonight.

Yes lots of rain here too. I'd almost given up waiting for, we've been told to expect rain since Saturday.

Fingers crossed my waterbutts are filling up quickly

Well I checked the ibc container after work, and guess what the tap I fitted was open so all the water that has gone into it has gone straight out of the tap.

I know how you feel. I bought a waterbutt last weekend and haven't connected it yet. I'm in Morecambe too and on a water meter so my back garden raised bed (and my wallet) have enjoyed the rain today.

ps. where is my nearest allotment to Fairfield Park as I am really geting into this grow your own and I fancy joining a long waiting list for a bit more space.

At last some rain. We had about half a millimeter - enough to keep the patio damp for at least half an hour. Made little impression on the water butts................

'Hoppings fortnight' starts tomorrow I think. This is the fortnight that the fair (hoppings) comes to the town moor (been happening for hundreds of years)and you can more or less guarantee rain!
The caravans and side shows usually have to be pulled off the grass with a tractor and the area is usualy a sea of mud!

Heatwave on the way into the weekend and next week according to the forecast. My threory is it will be dry for the next fortnight as they have spent millions of pounds putting a roof on centre court at Wimbledon!
