  • I'm diggin my potatoes

this year i seem to have a bumper crop of first earlies "Accent" .in previous years I have had a lot of slug damage so should I dig them all up now ? or wait till I need them . If I dig em all up , whats the best way to store them ?
there are only 10 types of people, those who understand binary , and those who don't!!

I've been digging mine up as and when required but if I'd noticed slug damage on the first ones (depending how serious) I would have em all up.

They're not easy to store, we just dig as required.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

someone on here suggested storing in fresh compost... Sounds like a great idea to me.

Whether to dig up or not depends on two things 1. are the potatoes getting damaged by pests underground, 2. What are the tops like. If you have damage and/or the tops have started to wither then dig them up. If the tops are still green and healthy then the potatoes are still growing and will be getting bigger and more numerous.
